Reflection Sessions

A one-hour conversation, by phone, video, or in person, for seekers working through a question, a transition, or a season that's hard to name.

Who this is for

• You are navigating a significant life transition — vocational, relational, geographic, spiritual.
• You are sitting with a question that has no obvious answer and could use a thoughtful listener who isn't a friend or family member.
• You want to think out loud about meaning, faith, doubt, mortality, or purpose with someone who takes those words seriously.
• You're between churches, between therapists, or between certainties.

What a session looks like

1. Before (1–3 days prior): You receive a short intake — three or four questions designed to clarify what you want from the session.
2. Opening (5 min): Settling. A short framing question.
3. Conversation (45 min): Mostly listening on my side. Reflective questions where useful. No agenda you didn't bring.
4. Closing (10 min): A summary of threads worth following, and one or two reading suggestions if you want them.
5. After (within 48 hours): A short follow-up email with the summary and any links.

Format options

• Video (Jitsi, Google Meet, or Zoom) — most common
• Phone — if you prefer voice without screen
• In-person in Tallahassee — outdoor walking sessions when weather allows

Contribution

$75 per 60-minute session. Sliding scale honored — if cost is a barrier, write me and propose what works for you.

Ceremonies & Officiation

I officiate ceremonies that honor the participants' own meaning-making — weddings, memorials, baby blessings, and custom transition rites.

What I officiate

Process

1. Initial conversation (30–45 min, free) — we talk about what the ceremony is for, who's there, what matters.
2. Draft (1–2 weeks) — I write a draft ceremony and send it for review.
3. Revision & rehearsal (as needed) — one or two revisions; a rehearsal if helpful.
4. The ceremony itself.

Travel: within Tallahassee included. Beyond Leon County, mileage at $0.70/mile or actual fuel + lodging if overnight.

Written Reflections to Order

A long-form written reflection on a topic of your choosing — for a person, an occasion, your own desk drawer, or a gift.

Common requests

• A 1,000-word reflection on a parent for their 70th birthday
• A eulogy you can't quite write yourself
• A piece on the meaning of a specific Bible passage, Stoic text, or poem, for your own use
• A wedding-anniversary reflection for a spouse
• A piece marking the closing of a business, a move, or the end of a chapter

Process

1. Brief — you tell me the subject, the audience, the occasion, the length, and anything important not to miss.
2. Draft — first draft within 7–10 days for short pieces, 2–3 weeks for longer.
3. One revision round included.
4. Delivery in plain text, PDF, or both. Optional: printed and bound for $25.

Contribution by length

• Short (300–700 words): $150
• Medium (700–1,500 words): $250
• Long (1,500–3,000 words): $400

Reading Groups

Small-group monthly readings of Stoic, contemplative, and cosmological texts. Four to eight people. Sliding scale honored.

How it works

1. A group of 4–8 forms around a chosen text (see Resources).
2. We agree on a reading pace — usually one section per month.
3. Each month we meet for ~90 minutes (video, occasionally in person) to discuss.
4. I prepare a short discussion sheet ahead of each session and host.

Contribution

$20 per session. Sliding scale honored ($0–$50). If you want to join but $20 is a stretch, say so.

Subscriptions — Ongoing Companionship

For those who want this practice woven through the year rather than booked one session at a time. Subscriptions are fees for ongoing services — not donations — and they are billed monthly.

How subscriptions work right now

Online recurring-billing (Stripe) is being set up — the subscribe buttons go live the moment payment processing is configured. Until then, subscriptions are arranged by email and billed monthly via invoice (ACH, paper check, or one-time card on file). Setup takes about 10 minutes by email. Why subscriptions instead of donations

Subscriptions are payments for ongoing services — the monthly reflection, the standing session, the priority response. They are not donations and they are not tax-deductible. They are how a single-author practice stays sustainable without depending on advertising or asking for charity.

On Pricing

The contributions above are suggested. The actual rule is simple: no one is turned away for inability to pay. If cost is a barrier and the work matters to you, write to me and propose what's actually possible. I would rather do the work for a contribution that works for you than not do it at all.

If you have means and the work matters to you, paying above the suggested amount is the mechanism by which the sliding scale stays funded.

Frequently Asked

Is this therapy?

No. I am not a licensed mental-health clinician. Reflection sessions are pastoral conversations, not diagnosis or treatment. If you are in crisis, please call or text 988.

Do I have to be religious?

No. The work is non-denominational and welcomes the spiritually unaffiliated, the doubting, the deconstructing, and the curious.

Are payments tax-deductible?

No. Payments to Spiritual Domicile are fees for services, not charitable contributions. See the disclosure in the footer below.

Do you work with people outside Florida?

Yes — reflection sessions, written reflections, and reading groups are available anywhere. Officiating ceremonies requires Florida (or coordinated travel).

How quickly do you respond?

Within 1–3 business days for most inquiries. Ceremonies under time pressure (e.g., a memorial within a week) get faster responses — flag the urgency in your message.

What about confidentiality?

Conversations are confidential. I take notes only with your knowledge. I do not record sessions. I do not write publicly about identifying details of clients.
